The Central Government Notified the rules for Citizenship Amendment Act 2019, The Union Home Minister Amit Shah said that the CAA will be implemented before General Election 2024.

Here is the Key Notes, You should know about CAA, 2019.

The CAA 2019 enables migrants/foreigners of six minority communities from three specified countries who have come to India because of persecution on grounds of their religion to apply for Indian citizenship.

The CAA does not apply to Indian citizens. They are completely unaffected by it.  It seeks to grant Indian citizenship to particular foreigners who have suffered persecution in three neighboring countries.

Indian Muslims need not worry as CAA has not made any provision to impact their citizenship and has nothing to do with the present 18 crore Indian Muslims, who have equal rights like their Hindu counterparts.

SIX non-Muslim communities are Hindus, Christians, Sikhs, Jains, Buddhists, and Parsis

They must have entered India on or before December 31, 2014, due to fear of religious persecution in their home country.

CAA does not automatically grant citizenship to anyone. Instead, it modifies the category of people who can apply for citizenship by exempting the applicants from the definition of “illegal migrant”.
