India’s oldest and one of the biggest national park in India, opened in 1936 as Hailey National Park in Nainital district of Uttarakhand. It is to protect the endangered Bengal tiger. In a report, the Wildlife Institute of India finds out that among 44 tiger reserves of the country, Corbett Tiger Reserve has the maximum number of 215 tigers.

Dhela zone

Dhela Safari Zone is a new eco-tourism zone introduced in November 2014. This is the only area open to tourists in the Tiger Reserve’s buffer zone while the remaining are located in core zone of the park. This zone located at a distance of 15 km from Ramnagar City.

Durga Devi zone

Northeastern corner of the park, it boasts of having the most beautiful landscape in the park. The hilly terrain with the lush green forest is what defines the magnificent beauty of Corbett . The zone is a paradise for the bird-loving enthusiasts.

What is the best time to go to Jim Corbett?

Corbett lets you visit the Park all year long, but the best time to visit the park is between November and February i.e, during the winter season when all the zones are open, and you can spot the most animals. Summers, though hot, isn’t unbearable as it has temperate weather. It is situated about 1300 feet above the sea level, it has cold winters and bright and sunny days.

In this period of October to February, you will find this park an abode of beautiful and unseen species. You can see majestic Bengal tiger roaming around the park in the winter season. The day time is quite balmy and pleasant. Animals come out for lazing and so you can spot them easily there.

This activity is a group adventure activity which involves crossing the river in a group by taking the help of the rope. The rope is tied strongly at both banks of the river and participants have to cross the river by holding the rope and walking in the river water.

3. Should carry a litter bag and bring back any non-biodegradable left overs.

4. Make sure to appoint a government approved tour guide.

5. Do not disturb the dwellers of the jungle.

6. Do not carry non-vegetarian foods during the jungle safaris.

7. Avoid playing loud music or unwanted noise during safaris.

8. Drive slowly within the jungles and avoid using horns as much as possible.

9. Pay attention to the tour guides and instructors.

10. Do not enter into the jungles post sunset.

11. Do not indulge in feeding the animals in any form; it is strictly prohibited and might be considered as a cruelty towards them.
