Adorable Hindu Trinity: Brahma, Vishnu & Mahesha

Hindu Trinity

Ever since my childhood, we have heard, There is a Hindu Trinity, and there are the three ultimate bosses who control the whole universe. Those master lords are ‘Brahma’, ’Vishnu’ and ‘Mahesha’.
Brahma is believed to be the creator, he is the one who started or can say starts if we scientifically believe in parallel universes. Vishnu who is believed to be the “protector” of the entire cosmos.

He is like a source of an infinite energy ocean and keeps the universe nourished and secured and also make a balance between creator and destroyer. And finally Mahesha the “destroyer” is a vacuum pump who absorbs all anti-matter or the negative power of the cosmos and void the space to restart the cycle of creation once again.

So, it is very logical to understand Brahma, Vishnu and Mahesha as the highest gods of Hinduism. Functionally they represent the triple functions of Manifested Brahman. Hence they are also called the Trimurthis or the Hindu Trinity.

Hindu Trinity

Symbolically, the three gods represent various things as they exist within creation and outside of it. They exist in us also as energy, will power, thoughts, consciousness , emotions. The whole universe is made of the three powers and sustained by the three powers. Hence, the triple gods are found in their states in every object and aspect of the universe.

Brahma’, ’Vishnu’ and ‘Mahesha

  1. In an individual, Brahma is the mind and ego, Vishnu intelligence, and Shiva the body.
  2. Brahma is the mental power of the person, Vishnu spiritual power and Shiva physical power.
  3. In any action, Brahma is the intention, Vishnu the motivating power, and Shiva resistance.
  4. Among the organs, Brahma is speech. Vishnu the heart and Shiva the breath.
  5. Within the mind, Brahma represents thoughts and ideas, Vishnu reason and purpose and Shiva feelings and emotions.
  6. Among the paths of salvation, Brahma is the path of selfless action , Vishnu the path of knowledge, and Shiva the path of renunciation.

Synchronization of mind, body and soul is absolute meaning of Trinity of Hinduism.

Hindu Trinity: Shiva

Shiva is like our physical body

representing the human form as perceived by the five primarily senses. When Shiva is worshiped, it is essentially a thanks to the epitome of what you can achieve physically. Shiva is worshiped in the lingam form which depicts the sexual energy, the reason behind our physical existence. The yogi with bare minimal essentials and comforts, he still possesses the power to destroy. This tells us that we humans need to control the fire within which when unleashed can create Tsunami.

We know Shiva as easily appeaseable, even by demons, which is comparable to the ease with which we give in to our cravings and desires. This also depicts that attaining physical supremacy is probably the easiest to achieve. But again this is just one aspect of our analogy.

Hindu Trinity: Vishnu

Vishnu is our divine soul within. It is like a guardian ; the protector. If we humans can perceive beyond our sensory organs to feel that sixth sense, then we can say that we have felt Vishnu. Portrayed in kingly attire, he dons a jewelled crown, a beautiful garland and silk attire. This depicts the royalty of the soul. His skin is the colour of the rain clouds showcasing the unison of purity and depth of the inner self. The ten reincarnations of Lord Vishnu depicts the infinity of the soul. His dramatic life defines the various emotions and traits of that hidden energy within us. He is not as easily appeaseable as Lord Shiva.

Hindu Trinity: Brahma

Brahma is the mind, resides on the top: He is the Father or Creator as he is believed to be, he is even depicted as elderly and wise. The book in his hand depicts the knowledge. He has four heads unlike Vishnu or Shiva which shows how the mind can open up in all directions. This tells us that mind is the ultimate resource with which one can rule this world and remain undisputed.

So the Hindu Trinity is not something we need to search outside, it within us; the singularity of mind, body and the soul. It is present in every single breath we take and every single step we take in the journey of our lives. But to realise this force we must be aware of it. Meditation works in helping this cause. It helps us to invoke this energy from the root of our body, to the mind to open it up and allow the divine knowledge to deep in much like the Kundalini concept.

The last stage is when one can be considered to attain self-realisation. In other words, it felicitates the journey from Shiva, through Vishnu and towards Brahma..

The self-realization is the ultimate destination one can humanly achieve, the last gateway to it is actually Brahma. What is very much within our potential is to strengthen our Shiva and Vishnu to strive for that last Brahma. So it makes sense to worship what is especially within our reach. However, it is not impossible to reach Brahma, but we must evolve ourselves to do that. We must understand that we are born to undergo the three stages of evolution: the Trinity.
